Member Information
Membership in the Michigan Genealogical Council (MGC) is open to any genealogical, family history society, or family association, amateur or professional with a primary interest in genealogy. The Michigan Genealogical Council is a 501(c)(3) corporation. Purposes: • To coordinate/stimulate genealogical activities of statewide interest, including seminars. • To cooperate in the location, preservation, publication, and deposit in suitable repositories, of Michigan records of value to genealogists. • To provide information to the membership regarding speakers, teachers, seminars, and workshops. • To encourage and work with other organizations or agencies involved in promoting improvements in genealogical facilities and holdings of Michigan archives, libraries, museums and record repositories.

Delegate meetings are held in January, March, May, July, September, and November. Please check the Events page on our website for the exact date, time, and location.

The Michigan Genealogical Council Newsletter is published four times per year, January, April, July, and October. Copy deadline for issues is the 15th of the month before the publication date. Please submit directly to our editor or to the Council email. (MS Word or plain text preferred)
